Learning Objectives: 

Review how sound is converted to neural activity in the inner ear

Describe how  neural activity is transmitted from inner ear to the auditory pathway

Describe how hearing loss disrupts the neural activity flowing from the inner ear to the auditory brain.

Illustrate how brain imaging techniques can be used to identify abnormal brain activity related to tinnitus and loudness intolerance

Discuss some techniques used to treat hearing loss, tinnitus and loudness intolerance problems including new research on hair cell regeneration
